Description

In the vast canopy of ginormous, tree-like organisms a ceratosaur sized predator is running and leaping after its victim. After the successful catch, suddenly it's releasing it from the powerful grasp and it looks like the prey victoriously escaped.

The predator, named Erythronyx grandis (also known as "Ik'dhar" on the native's language) is part of a very diverse group of carnivorous creatures, in which we can find gliding and even fully aquatic individuals too.
This being is the top predator around here and for good reason. Since these creatures do not have real "claws", the inner "forearms" from its front limbs are armed with numerous spike-like organs, while on the outer ones the bones are formed into a big, hook-like structure covered with hardened skin. These might look terrifying but their only purpose is to hold the prey in a strong grasp, while the real "weapons" are doing their job.
Its inner limbs became "venom injectors". While it's holding the potential prey item, the injectors are pumping a large amount of venom into its body, which is going to make an end to the victim's life in about an hour.
Maybe its ground dwelling, smaller relatives on other continents have more effective, more toxic venom, but here in this region the Erythronyx is the apex predator.

Its body shape is following the same basic body plan as its relatives. What looks like a long tail is actually an elongated body between the two, turtle shell like bone-carapace which got separated over millions of years. This adaptation allowed them to have a more agile and flexible body than other creatures, which can be very useful in environments like these if you think about it.

This is a wonderful predator, also great details, it feels very barlowesque look :)
